What makes a good life?

View on Vocaroo >>

First of all, the main point of the Harvard study is to find out what exactly make people happy and healthy. They researched over 7 hundreds adults since there were still teenager. This study has already lasted for 70 years.

Secondly, i am not surprised by Dr. Robert’s findings, because I believed that good relationship can make people healthier physically and mentally. Friends and families can provide you some supports when you are sad, they can provide some advices when you are confused.

Last but not the least, I totally agree with the lecturer. A good connection can make a good life. Life is not just about the making money or become celebrity. There are more than that for us to explore.

Voice blog- procrastination

View on Vocaroo >>

Do I procrastinate sometimes? The answer is Yes. I believe that every body is a procrastinator. The only difference between us is the degree of the procrastination.

As for why do I procrastinate, that is mainly because I always thought that there is enough of time for me to accomplish the event, so i think maybe I can do it later. For example, my teacher sometimes would assign the homework, which due to next week. Therefore, I think maybe I can do it on the weekend. At this moment I walk into the procrastinating cycle which is a bad habit. This is why.

Personally speaking, I believe that most effective way to stop procrastinating is to act immediately. If you don’t, you will walk into the procrastinating cycle, which is harmful to our mental health.

Inside the mind of a master procrastinator

Inside the mind of a master procrastinator:
https://www.ted.com/talks/tim_urban_inside_the_mind_of_a_master_procrastinator/transcript#t-297625

Three words I learned from the talk

1.Gratification  滿足感; 快樂
definition: pleasure or satisfaction, or something which provides this:

2.propagate: 繁衍; 生殖
definition: to produce young plants or animals

3.procrastinate: 拖延,耽擱
definition: to keep delaying something that must be done, often because it is unpleasant or boring

Summary:
In my opinion, I think each of us is procrastinator in some way, which means there is a monkey in our brain.  However, there is another creature living in our brain that can remind us to do the right things and stop us procrastinating anymore. This is procrastinator's system, which is not pretty but works.

Do you have a smart speaker at home?
Yes,I do. Actually, my smart speaker is Siri.

What is a smart speaker?
Smart speaker is some kind of electronic assistant that provides a lot of convenience for people. For example, if want to know how is the weather today, you just have to say some keyword to your smart speaker and then it will tell you what you want to know.

How does a smart speaker work?
According to the company, they are only actively listening to what is going on in your home and their microphone is still on the whole time in order to detect some keywords you said. In this way, they can provide the service that you need.

Hyperloop system

Hyperloop system- the revolution of  the transportation.
Nowadays, even though the highest speed trans, the
High-speed rail, have already saved us tremendous times, it still have to cost 2-3 hours for us from Taipei to Kaohsiung. Therefore, something extraordinary come out- the Hyperloop system which exceeds every single transportation in the world. It can reach the speed of 760 mph using very little energy. The concept of it's operation is quit simple. It exploits the vacuum and the magnetic levitation. In this case, there is little resistance that would decrease the speed of the vehicle since we put out all the air inside the tube. Not only can it save people immense times, but also can it be environmental friendly to out nature. I believe that each of us can meet this great invention in the near future.

Q: Are the speaking and listening tests difficult for you?
In my opinion, I think that listening part is easier than the speaking part. As for why, that is mainly because after a month of training, my listening skill has been enhanced to a higher level. However, I still have some obstacles in the speaking part since I don't have a lot of opportunities to speak in English. Hence, I have few chances to improve my pronunciation.

Q:What are the challenges you often face when you listen and speak in English?
In the listening part, the thing which is most challenging to me is to translate what I just listened. I have few seconds to translate the sentence. Most importantly, sometimes we might meet some words that we don't familiar with. As  a consequence, it becomes harder when we try to understand the next part.
In the speaking part, I hold the opinion that students in Taiwan lack of way to refine their speaking. For example, I can just record what I said when I was training my speaking ability for the reason that I have no money to go to a tutor school. And then I listen to what I just said so that I can make some adjustment to my speaking.

My new plan this year

I have several plans for this new semester. I was preparing the Toefl test during the summer vacation  so that I can apply the exchange program in NTUB on November. I always want to go to Europe to travel. Therefore, I have to earn the money as much as I can to cover the travel expense in the future.
Moreover, I also want to learn a second foreign language which is related to the country that I want to go to exchange. In the same, I hope that I can keep all my grade of academic subject in a excellent level.  Hopefully, everything will go according to my plan.
